Kufstein – Small Town with rich History

First mentioned in the 13th century, Kufstein has long been a strategic stronghold. The Kufstein Fortress, built over 800 years ago, played a key role in Austria’s defense. Today, it stands as the town’s most famous landmark, offering visitors a glimpse into medieval life, stunning views, and the deep sounds of the Heldenorgel, the world’s largest free-standing organ.

Good food is part of the experience. Try Kaiserschmarrn, a fluffy shredded pancake, or Tiroler Gröstl, a hearty mix of potatoes, bacon, and egg. Local cheeses and freshly baked bread are a must. Enjoy a meal in the old town, where cozy restaurants serve simple, honest dishes.

Bujinkan in Austria started here. 30 years later, the community has grown, with students across the country carrying on the tradition. Now, Kufstein welcomes martial artists back for a special event.

Please be aware, that Kufstein is a small city with only about 20.000 inhabitants. This Taikai Event will be a very big event for this area. Keep in mind, that you and your group represent the bujinkan dojo and the values it holds up. We would like to ask you to refrain from wearing your training Gi in the public areas of the town, because it might be a disturbing picture for some inhabitants, if hundreds of people dressed in black roam the streets.
